The Lyvennet Community Plan Group (made up of communities from Crosby Ravensworth, Kings Meaburn, Maulds Meaburn and Reagill) set up the Lyvennet Community Trust with the aim of delivering affordable housing in their area. Eden District Council have been key partners in this project by providing a £30,000 loan to the group as well as donating significant officer time to the project. In addition, the Council part funds the specialist support the Group have received from the Cumbria Rural Housing Trust’s Community Land Trust Officer. As part of the Council's rolling programme of housing needs surveys, the area was assessed and the results highlighted the need for affordable housing provision.
The community are also in the process of gathering enough finance to buy their local pub and are looking into the development of an anaerobic digester to produce their own energy.
