Eden District Council and Parkwood Leisure are offering Eden residents who compete at a national level in sport the opportunity of free access to the Council’s leisure facilities as part of the Passport 2012 Scheme - which aims to support and encouragement Eden's elite athletes in lead up to the London 2012 Olympics. Enter the Penrith Triathlon 2008
On Sunday 24 August, the Penrith Triathlon is taking place at the town's Leisure Centre as part of the 'Raising the Olympic Flag Celebrations' for London 2012. The Council, Parkwood Leisure and Arragons Triathlon Club are seeking individual and group entries for the Triathlon, proceeds from which will go to support Eden Valley Hospice. Eden Responds to BT's Telephone Box Closure Plans
Eden has formulated its initial response to BT’s proposals to close 44 telephone boxes in the District. Using Ofcom criteria we have made a list of the telephone boxes the Council considers should be retained. The public has until 26 August 2008 to ‘Have their Say’ on Eden’s initial response. Summer Holiday Sports Programme
The Council and Parkwood Leisure are offering a variety of sport and physical activity courses for young people this summer across Eden. They include Climbing, Expressions Pump Cardio Gym Sessions, Indoor Bowls and Expressions Stretch and Spin. Read more about Summer Holiday Sports Programme.
Eden's Core Strategy
What will Eden be like in 2021? How will development be guided? Answers to these questions can be found in the Core Strategy, the first of several Development Plan Documents which will replace the Local Plan. The document, approved by council in June, will be submitted to Government Office for the North West in August. After this date public comments will be sought before an Examination in Public is held. Work Commences on £80m New Squares Development

Chairman out to Champion Eden
Councillor Tony Brunskill is the new Council Chairman. Over the next 12 months he will be out and about in Eden promoting what makes the District a great place to live, work and visit. Read more about the Council Chairman.
