Graffiti

Graffiti refers to drawings, patterns, scribbles or messages painted, written or carved onto walls or surfaces of public or private property.

Any reports of graffiti will be investigated by our Community Wardens. If the graffiti is considered to be offensive or detrimental to the area then we will aim to identify an appropriate person to remove it. We are responsible for the removal of graffiti from public property however graffiti on private property must be removed by the owner of that property.

Anyone caught doing graffiti is likely to receive a fixed penalty notice of £75 or where necessary prosecuted through the magistrates court. The Police will also be notified.

You can report graffiti to us online, just complete the graffiti, vandalism and fly posting form.

If you know who has committed the offence please inform us so that we can prosecute the offenders.

Malicious graffiti

If you consider the graffiti to be malicious please contact the Police on the non-emergency number 101.
