Alston

Free parking is available in Front Street (CA9 3YA) and Fairhill (CA9 3SN) car parks. A restricted on-street parking scheme operates from April - October.

Penrith Leisure Centre

Enforcement of the Leisure Centre car park was introduced in October 2008 due to a large number of the car park spaces being used by commuters to the town, resulting in parking problems for Leisure Centre users. Leisure Centre users must obtain a ticket from the Centre reception and display in their vehicle.

Caravan and Camper Vans

Parking is available in Appleby in Broad Close car park (if vehicle is less than 1 tonne unladen weight).
Camper vans less than 3050Kg in weight are permitted to park in all the Pay and Display Car Parks.

Motorhomes and cars pulling caravans, which are too large to fit in the standard parking bays, are permitted to park within a parking bay marked for coaches in Sandgate car park Penrith.

Drivers of motorhomes and caravans are advised to purchase multiple tickets to cover the number of spaces the vehicle occupies. It is not permitted for people to sleep or camp overnight in caravans in the car parks.

Motorcycles

Motorcycles can park free in the designated motorcycle bays in Sandgate and Princes Street car parks in Penrith. Motorcycles parked in standard bays must buy and display a valid parking ticket. Solo motorcycles (two wheeled motorcycles with no side car) parked in an on-street disc area are exempt from displaying a disc, a motorcycle with a side car will need to display a valid disc.

Lorry Parking

Lorries over 7.5 tonnes are not permitted to park in the Council's pay and display car parks or enter the town centre between the hours of 7pm and 7am. There are two lorry parks in Penrith Davidson's Junction 40 (telephone 01768 867101) and Penrith Truck Stop situated around junction 40 off the M6 motorway.
