The Cumbria Landscape Classification and Landscape Strategy were produced over ten years ago by the County Council. The information contained in these documents was in need of updating.
The County Council has been working with all the district authorities and the proposed guidance was open for consultation.
The guidance is in two parts - Landscape Character Assessment and a Toolkit which is intended to aid the district authorities when considering new development that might affect landscape character and also to help inform planning applications.
