The Supplementary Planning Document on Housing was adopted at the Executive Meeting on 2 November 2010. The purpose of the SPD is to create a positive approach to delivering affordable housing to meet local needs particularly in rural areas. The document aims to increase the potential sources of supply of affordable housing across the whole of Eden District that lies outside the Lake District National Park. The Council will use this SPD to determine planning applications.

You can download the SPD below. You can also download the Adoption Statement and a Consultation Statement prepared under Regulation 18 (4)(b). This outlines a summary of the comments we received during public consultation on the SPD and how we amended the final SPD as a result. Alternatively, paper copies of these documents are available to view at Alston, Appleby, Kirkby Stephen, Penrith, Shap and Lazonby.
