Development Plan Documents (DPDs)

Development Plan Documents (DPDs) will provide the detailed policy framework that will be used when considering planning applications and they will be in conformity with national and regional policy. Some Development Plan Documents will also allocate land and specific sites to enable sustainable development to take place. These allocations will be shown on the Proposals Map.

Development Plan Documents are subject to rigourous requirements during their production and provide opportunities for community involvement throughout the process, together with formal documents for consultation. Finally, they will be the subject of an independent examination.

All Development Plan Documents will be subject to Sustainability Appraisal to make sure they are socially, environmentally and economically sound.

Where further detail is required for specific policies within a Development Plan Document the Council may produce a Supplementary Planning Document.
