Monitoring and review are important in ensuring the effectiveness of the planning system. As a result the we are required to produce an Annual Monitoring Report, which has to be submitted to the Secretary of State by the end of December each year.
The Council has prepared and submitted its Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) for 2008-2009 which sets out to:
- Review actual progress in terms of local development document preparation against the timetable and milestones in the Local Development Scheme (LDS).
- Identify whether policies are to be amended or replaced.
- Identify the policies from the Local Plan that will continue to be saved while replacement policies in the Local Development Framework documents are produced.
- Review progress against a number of indicators, covering the economy, environment and social issues relevant to the district, and the implications of this for the Local Development Framework.
- Comply with Section 35 of The 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act which emphasises the need for monitoring in the Local Development Framework.
