Eden Local Development Framework

The Eden Local Development Framework will replace the existing 'Development Plan' for the area, which makes up the Cumbria and Lake District Joint Structure Plan and Eden Local Plan.

The Local Development Framework will give developers and local people a clear indication of what is likely to be acceptable development and will be the basis for assessing planning applications.

As it takes time to produce documents for the Local Development Framework policies in the Cumbria and Lake District Joint Structure Plan and Eden Local Plan will be retained as Saved Policies.

The Eden Local Development Framework will be a portfolio of documents that together will form the spatial plan for Eden district outside of the Lake District National Park. The Lake District National Park will produce a separate Local Development Framework.

The Eden Local Development Framework will comprise the following:

• Statement of Community Involvement
• Core Strategy Development Plan Document
• Other Development Plan Documents (DPDs):
  • Housing Development Plan Document (DPD)
  • Primary Development Control Policies DPD
  • Proposals Map
• Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs):
  • Shopfront and Advertisement Design SPD
  • An Accessible and Inclusive Environment SPD
  • Cumbria Wind Energy SPD
  • Management of Conservation Areas SPD
  • Housing SPD
• A Proposals Map
• Annual Monitoring Report
• Sustainability Appraisal of the documents and policies

The Local Development Framework must be in conformity with National Planning Policy, the North West Plan (Regional Spatial Strategy) once it is adopted and the Cumbria and Lake District Joint Structure Plan prepared by Cumbria County Council.
