From 15 November 2004 the Security Industry Authority (SIA) became responsible for licensing of door supervisors. Since that date, anyone working as or managing door supervisors is required to hold an SIA licence.
Before applying for a SIA licence you must hold both of the following qualifications:
- Level 1 National Certificate for Door Supervisors
- Level 2 National Certificate for Door Supervisors.
These qualifications can be obtained at any local college.
A criminal records check will also be carried out on anyone applying for a licence.
Before applying for a licence it is recommended that you check on the SIA website. There is a preliminary application section which will advise you of your suitability or otherwise.
