Butchers' Licensing

  • The requirement for butchers selling unwrapped meat and ready to eat foods to obtain a Butchers Licence ceased on
    1 January 2006.

  • Butchers are subject to the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006 that apply to all other retail and catering businesses.

  • The Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006 contain similar documented food safety requirements as the Butchers Licensing Scheme.
