Butchers' Licensing
New EU Food Hygiene Regulations
New EU Food Hygiene Regulations, the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006 came into force on 1 January 2006.
From this date, butchers selling unwrapped raw meat and ready to eat food will be subject to the above regulations and will not require a licence to operate.
The new EU Regulations contain very similar HACCP requirements to the previous butchers licence scheme; therefore butchers must continue to operate current HACCP systems from 1 January 2006.
