The Council's Leisure Team implements the
Council's objectives for arts, sports and leisure related
activities. The Council is responsible for two leisure facilities
at Penrith and Appleby which incorporates 25 metre swimming pools,
fitness suite and sauna, solarium area. Parkwood Leisure the
Council's Leisure Management Contractor manages both sites.
The Council is a member of the Cumbria Sport
Partnership which implements national and regional sports
development initiatives including Active Sports and Active
Communities programmes. The Council's own Sports Development
Strategy for Eden is also delivered by the Leisure section.
Eden District Council operates a leisure grant
fund, which is available to community groups, sports clubs, arts
organisations and individuals. The leisure department assists
clubs, groups and individuals in their search for external funding
and provides advice on Sport England Lottery applications.
