'Whose story is it anyway?' is an exhibition of
artworks made by local schools and other groups inspired by museum
artifacts. Each artifact is displayed next to the artwork inspired by
it. All the exhibits are the creations of pupils and members of the
following schools and groups:
- Bolton Primary School.
- Hunter Hall Independent School.
- North Lakes School.
- Plumpton Primary School.
- Warcop Primary School.
- Penrith after School Club.
- 1st Crosby Ravensworth Brownies.
- Children and Parents from Penrith Library.
Karen MacDougall, artist and interpreter went into all
the schools and worked with the pupils who produced the artworks. Using
artifacts in the museum to stimulate the children, she encouraged them
to write about the them. The stories could be based on fact or fiction
drawing on the children's imagination to create a story based on
an object, to produce some creative writing. These stories were then
woven into webs and word pictures.
The exhibition is funded through Tullie House (Carlisle museum) ' Once Upon a Time Project' and by MLA Renaissance in the Regions.
The exhibition is showing from 18 February to 26 March 2008 at Penrith and Eden Museum, for times see below.
