Penrith and Distrtict Camera Club exhibition

Eden District Council's Penrith Museum hosted an exhibition of photographs by members of the Penrith and District Camera Club.

'Images of Cumbria' aimed  to communicate the heritage and beauty of Penrith's surroundings and Cumbria as a whole. Many of the thirty framed and mounted prints were for sale.

The Club originated as the Cumbria Constabulary Camera Club in 1980 and membership was originally restricted to the Police and their family and friends. After a while it was decided to separate from Police Headquarters at Carleton Hall and the club was renamed Eamont Camera Club, with meetings at the Lowther Arms in Penrith. At that time there was also a Penrith Natural History and Photographic Society, but it was only in existence for a few years.

Recently the club has again been renamed to recognise its role in the area. The Penrith and District Camera Club now meets every Wednesday at the Evergreen Hall in Penrith, with a full programme of events and competitions from September to April. New members and visitors are always welcome at Club events.
