Poems from the Catalan
'Poems from the Catalan' exhibition was shown in summer 2008. The exhibition featured avant-garde poetry and art inspired by 30 years of political oppression in the Catalan region of Spain. On show was the collaborative work of the Barcelona-born poet Joan Brossa (1919-1998) and the artist Antoni Tàpies (b.1923). This work was produced in the early 1970s as a response to Franco’s nationalist regime in Spain. Eden Arts together with Penrith and Eden Museum hosted the exhibition in the museum and Penrith Town Hall. Creative workshops were held over two days on 25 October and 28 October. These were led by visual artist Karen MacDougall and performance poet Ann Wilson.
