Forthcoming Exhibitions Programme for 2008

January-February 2008

Whose Story is it Anyway?

This exhibition is the culmination of a six month project which has been funded by Renaissance in the Regions through MLA North West. Schools and community groups in Eden have worked with artist Karen MacDougall and have been involved in creating the exhibits. These will explore how information is passed on through stories, tales, myths and beliefs while utilising the Museum collections to stimulate imagination and inspire creativity.

March-July 2008

Age to Age

Working with artist/interpreter Julian Longcake and sound recordist Mark Newport, this exhibition will focus on people's memories and how they can be used to identify, record and celebrate our local heritage. Community participation will be encouraged at drop-in events at the museum where adults and children will be invited to bring artefacts and memories to be incorporated into an art installation. Participants will also be invited to make artistic responses to the displays of memory around them in the museum, and to their own personal memories, by using recycled materials to create baubles etc which will decorate a 'dress installation' that will document and interpret our local heritage.
