Information Notes For Applicants
Eden District Council can award local clubs and organisations grants to support and improve sports, arts and other leisure activities in the district. These are distributed through the Community and Economy Committee, which distributes funding three times a year.
What can be funded?
Grants can be used to support a wide variety of projects. Examples include the provision of leisure equipment, organising events and exhibitions, junior coaching, summer play schemes and coach education courses. Applicants can also apply towards capital projects including play area improvements and sports ground improvements.
Costs of the project can include items such as:
- Architects and other professional fees
- Sports and Arts equipment
- Hire of facilities for running an event
- Coaches fees towards the delivery of a sports development programme
- National Governing Body Coach Education Courses
- Artist's costs
This funding is available for revenue and capital projects and must normally be taken up within twelve months of the award.
Value of Funding
The Council's contribution will not exceed 25% towards revenue costs of a project to a maximum of £1,000 per project.
The Council's contribution will not exceed 10% towards capital costs of a project to a maximum of £1,000 per project.
All grants will be made at the discretion of the Council and will not exceed the budget available
What the fund will not support
The Leisure Grant Fund will not support:
- Retrospective applications - these will not normally be considered if the project or event has commenced prior to the submission of the application
- Commercial or profit making organisations
- Organisations or individuals who do not reside or operate within Eden District
- Wholly educational activities not benefiting the wider community
The Award of Grants
The award of grants is determined by the Council's Community and Economy Committee at three Committees during the financial year (April - March). During the current financial year awards will be determined at committee meetings in June, November, and January.
Application Deadlines
For an application to be considered at the next round of meetings applications must be received by the Council five weeks prior to the Committee date. Additional Information
Any award of financial assistance must be used within the financial year (1st April - 31st March) to which the application event relates.
