Children and Young People

Eden recognise's the important contribution that children and young people make and will make in the future and wants to provide the best support that it can for them within the services that it provides. Our aims are 'to best serve the people of Eden' and in delivering services to children and young people it wishes to ensure that its mission statement applies equally to them.

Our aims is for service development in respect of young people are set out in the Children and Young People's Plan 2008-2011. The Plan been developed for the benefit of all children and young people within the district from birth to nineteen years of age and explains what kinds of services the Council provides, what the priorities are in Eden for children and young people and how the Council is trying to improve the services that it delivers in order to better safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

We recognise that it has a key role to play in safeguarding children and young people and protecting them from harm. Our Child Protection Policy outlines our approach to promoting the welfare of children and young people. A copy of the policy can be viewed below.
