Penrith Housing Needs Survey

Penrith Housing Needs Survey collates the results of the survey conducted in June 2011. The purpose of the survey was to obtain evidence of housing requirements in Penrith for the next five years.

Survey methodology

• The survey utilises postal questionnaires based on a tried and tested template produced by us to allow for robust analysis, consistency and comparison with other areas in the district.

• A random address sample was used which covered each of Penrith's six wards.

• An explanatory covering letter and freepost return envelope was included with each questionnaire.

• Respondents were given approximately four weeks to complete questionnaires.

• To ensure confidentiality, no identifying codes were used.

• Returned questionnaires were scanned into a database and the results analysed by our Housing Research Officer using Statistical Package for Social Sciences.
