We have our own Housing Strategy 2006-2011 which has been assessed by the Government Office as 'Fit for Purpose'. Eden has now forged links with the other authorities in Cumbria to produce one strategy which will make the most effective use of resources and knowledge across the County.
The County Strategy has been produced with assistance from the Government Office for the North West and was the first in the region to be considered as 'Fit for Purpose'. This was informed by a County Wide Housing Needs Survey carried out in 2006 and provides information on where the Council needs to focus actions in terms of:
- affordable housing;
- ensuring housing meets the Governments Decent Homes Standard;
- and where specialist and supported housing needs to be provided.
The new draft Cumbria Housing Strategy should be in place by the end of January 2012, it is currently with the individuel partners for approval.
