Eden District Council is responsible for dealing
with homelessness, giving housing advice and holding a waiting list
of people who require housing for rent. We work in partnership with
a range of Registered Social Landlords (RSL's) and specialist
agencies to house people from all walks of life and with specific
problems.
The Council works with RSL's to build new
affordable housing, which can be in the form of housing to rent or
shared ownership.
We are also responsible for dealing with
properties, which are in a state of disrepair, by serving repairs
notices, closing the property or demolishing it.
The Council provides grants for residents with
disabilities to fund aids and adaptations to their property, which
have been recommended by the Occupational Therapists.
Properties, which are owned by private
landlords, are inspected by the Housing Team to ensure that they
comply with legal standards.
