£260,000 boost for community projects in Eden

Household rubbish collections (blue bags) dates after May Bank Holiday
Blue bag refuse collections will not be taking place on Bank Holiday Monday (27 May 2013). Bags will be collected one day later than normal. Changes due to public holidays are printed on our blue bags. Read more about household refuse collection and public holidays.
Entries now open for Penrith Sprint Triathlon – Sunday 25 August 2013
The sixth Penrith Sprint Triathlon is taking place on Sunday 25 August at the town’s Leisure Centre. The event comprises a 400m swim, 22km cycle ride and 5km run. A sprint triathlon provides a challenge for high-level athletes, but is also the perfect event for people considering trying this type of sport for the first time. Future cycling stars head to Lazonby to contest National Race Road Championship
Lazonby is getting set to welcome the future talent of UK Cycling, who will be competing on roads around the village at British Cycling’s Junior Men’ Road Race Championships on Sunday 9 June. The local community are supporting the championships by organising activities for people who come along to spectate, including cycling coaching session for children and a family fun ride all taking place in and around Lazonby Primary School. Have your dog microchipped for Free
Our Community Wardens and the Dogs’ Trust are encouraging dog owners to have their pets microchipped for free, this helps reduce the number of unidentified stray dogs in the District. Microchipping does not hurt your dog, no anaesthetic is required and the procedure should cause no more discomfort to your pet than a standard vaccination. Read more about free dog microchipping.

Community Solutions contains information about how local communities are developing solutions to address their needs. Case studies and 'How-To' guides are available to help community groups develop ideas to start projects in their neighbourhoods.
