The Council promotes the reclamation or improvement of derelict, neglected, or unsightly land utilising grants from external organisations.
The Councils role is to facilitate reclamation projects, selecting sites and determining priorities. The successful completions of these projects are often central to the regeneration of the local economy.
At the present time finance for land reclamation schemes is provided via Cumbria County Council.
