Bulky household waste is generally described as freestanding furniture that will not fit into a refuse sack. We offer a bulky household waste collection service at a cost of £16.50 for up to 3 items. We will collect:

- Bookcases (not glass fronted and must be freestanding)
- Carpets
- Carpet Underlay
- Chairs
- Chest of Drawers
- Dressing tables
- Plastic Garden Furniture
- Wooden Garden Furniture
- Mattresses
- Tables (not glass)
- Three Piece Suites (=3 items)
- Wardrobes (not glass fronted)
Bulky household waste collection does not include electric appliances, cookers, garden waste, builder's rubble or fixtures and fittings.

Bulky household waste collection must be pre-booked either completing the bulky waste collection request online form or contacting us on the details below:
Bulky household waste is usually collected on your normal refuse collection day.
Appliance collection
There is a separate collection for fridges, freezers, televisions, cookers and computer monitors at a cost of £16.50 per item for further details see appliance collection.
Free disposal at Household Waste Recycling Centres
Alternatively you can dispose of the items free of charge by taking them to a household waste recycling centres at Flusco, near Penrith or Hobson Lane, Kirkby Stephen.
Furniture Re-use
If you have furniture that's still in reasonable condition, Impact Furniture Services at Penrith may be able to pick it up free of charge.
