Household chemicals such as paint stripper, white spirit, weedkillers, fertilisers, pesticides and photographic fluids are hazardous waste. Car batteries and gas cylinders are also classed as hazardous waste.

Please do NOT put them in your blue sack for collection.

We can give details of how to arrange a special collection of hazardous waste from households but there may be a charge for the collection. Please telephone 01768 817817 or email: customer.services@eden.gov.uk

Alternatively, you can take hazardous waste to Flusco or Kirkby Stephen Household Waste Recycling Centres. Prior appointment is necessary and any hazardous waste items must be given to an attendant.
