Recycling Information

Charity shops are always on the look out for good quality second hand textiles for resale. Textiles include clothes, towels, sheets, blankets, curtains and shoes. There are charity shops in Alston, Appleby-in-Westmorland, Kirkby Stephen, Penrith and Shap.

Some charities, such as the Great North Air Ambulance make regular kerbside collections.

You can also offer items to local people by visiting www.penrithedenfreegle.org.uk and posting details of your unwanted items.

There are textile banks at most recycle points in Eden. Please double-bag all items and tie the tops of bags securely before placing in the textile banks. Rags can go in the textile banks, but please put them into separate bags and clearly label 'RAGS'.

Please do not place in soiled rags, carpets, rugs, glass, metal, duvets, pillows, paper or rubbish.
