Dogs

We patrol the district to identify and seize stray dogs, these dogs are held and the owners (if known) are informed. Community Wardens pick up stray dogs, and deal with issues of dog fouling and dog barking.

The Council will never destroy a dog, unless a vet recommends that the animal is suffering, can't be operated upon or medicated, and needs to be put out of its misery. The Council's policy is that stray dogs are rehomed or passed onto local rehoming charities.

We also aim to reduce fouling and raise awareness of legislation and promoting responsible dog ownership within the district.
