Scrutiny Panels

The two Scrutiny Panels are responsible for all overview and scrutiny functions at the Council. They have the power to ask The Executive to reconsider decisions it has made. They can also commission in depth reviews into areas of Council policy or issues of local concern.

There are usually four meetings of each Scrutiny Panel per year although further meetings are convened from time to time. These meetings are usually open to the public unless a particular Panel decides that certain items should be made exempt.

You can find out more details about Scrutiny members and upcoming meetings of each Scrutiny Panel by following the links below.

Scrutiny Coordinating Board

The Scrutiny Coordinating Board is made up of nine members, including the Panel Chairs and Vice Chairs, and helps decide the overall direction that the Scrutiny service goes in. The Board meets six times a year.
