Scrutiny is at its most effective when it engages with local residents and service users. Below are just some of the ways in which you can become involved in scrutiny at Eden.
Scrutiny review process for 2011/2012
In the video to the right Councillor Glenys Lumley talks about how you can become involved in the consultation for the 2011/12 Work Plan. We would like as many people as possible to respond to the consultation to enable Scrutiny at Eden to best serve the residents. The consultation opened on 21 February 2011 and will close on 25 March 2011. A report will go before the Scrutiny Co-ordinating Board on 7 April 2011 including an analysis of the consultation responses.

Attend a meeting
The two Scrutiny Panels meet four times a year, 8 meetings in total. The meetings are open to the public. Further details about forthcoming meetings of each Scrutiny Panel are published on the Committee Meetings Calendar.
Ask a Question
You are entitled to ask a question at a Scrutiny Panel meeting. Your question, which should include your name and address, must be given to the Director of Corporate and Legal Services no later than midday on the day before the meeting at which you wish to ask your question. For more details see public participation at meetings.
Please note that Scrutiny is not about making specific complaints. It is about developing new policy and reviewing existing policy in order to make improvements. The Council has separate procedures for making complaints.
Become a Scrutiny Co-optee
The Scrutiny Panels have the power to elect up to two non-voting co-optees onto a Scrutiny Review Group. They can then take part in a Scrutiny Review. If you feel that you may have a role to play then please contact the Scrutiny Officer, below.
