Subject Matter: Older People's Housing Strategy - Member Consultation
Purpose of Report: To seek consent from the Housing Portfolio Holder to begin consultation with Eden District Council Members on the Older People's Housing Strategy (OPHS) which is being produced in partnership with South Lakeland District Council.
Decision: RESOLVED that a six week period of consultation be undertaken with Members of Eden District Council on the OPHS.
Reasons for Decision: It is recommended that the Portfolio Holder approves the consultation on the OPHS as:
  • The Council is required to produce a strategy giving the framework for housing provision in carrying out its strategic function;
  • The strategy meets the housing corporate priority to provide affordable housing to meet the needs of local people;
  • The strategy addresses the strategic action in the Corporate Plan to increase housing affordability and availability to meet current and future housing needs;
  • The strategy helps meet the Core Strategy Development Plan Document adopted by Council on 31 March 2010 and the Housing Supplementary Planning Document adopted by Council on 2 November 2010.
