RESOLVED that:
The Communities Portfolio Holder made decisions on the following applications:
Application for funding towards Alston Moor Business Association for producing Alston Moor Walks Leaflets: The application was for £2,000. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £2,000 towards the scheme to support the visitor economy on Alston Moor.
Application for funding towards Appleby Bowling Club for replacement of ‘Green Bower’ Roof: The application was for £6,500. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £1,375 to match awards from other funders in order to collectively meet the total cost of the project to enable the Club’s roof to be replaced.
Application for funding towards Appleby Community Acting Together for Olympic Flame Celebration in Appleby: The application was for £2,500. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £2,500 towards the scheme to enable the community of Appleby and surrounding areas to properly mark the once in a lifetime occasion.
Application for funding towards Appleby Primary School for Olympic Celebrations: The application was for £475. The Portfolio Holder decided to refer the applicant to the Appleby Community Acting Together scheme and also Cumbria County Council’s ‘0-19 Youth Fund.’
Application for funding towards Brough Parish Council for Olympic Torch through Brough Celebrations: The application was for £2,500. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £2,500 towards the scheme to enable the community of Brough and surrounding areas to properly mark the once in a lifetime occasion.
Application for funding towards Carlisle and Eden Best Bar None Awards Scheme for funding for the Carlisle and Eden Best Bar None Scheme: The application was for £3,000. The Portfolio Holder decided to decline the application as it did not meet the criteria for the Community Fund in that the application had not been made by a constituted body.
Application for funding towards Cumbria CVS for Volunteering in the Valley: The application was for £1,315. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £1,000 towards the scheme in order to promote volunteering in Eden to increase levels of volunteering.
Application for funding towards Dufton Village Hall for Vanguard - Progressive Crafts’ Highlights Contemporary Craft Tour @ Dufton Hall: The application was for £1,834. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £1,834 towards the scheme to allow residents and school children in rural areas to access nationally renowned art and artists.
Application for funding towards Eden Runners/Fell Runners Association for International Uphill Open Fell Race: The application was for £1,500. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £1,500 towards the scheme to allow the internationally significant sporting event to take place in Eden and support the visitor economy.
Application for funding towards Great Salkeld Parish Council for Jubilee Fun Day: The application was for £900. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £500 towards the scheme for equipment and decorations to allow the community of Great Salkeld to properly mark the occasion of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Application for funding towards Heart of Eden Trust for Lease and renovation of empty properties for affordable rented housing: The application was for £10,000. The Portfolio Holder decided to defer the application in order to obtain further information.
Application for funding towards Highlights Rural Touring Scheme for Eden Volunteer Promoter Network: The application was for £5,080. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £5,080 towards the scheme in order to improve the long term sustainability of Highlights Rural Touring Scheme by putting in place an effective volunteer promoter network.
Application for funding towards Kirkoswald Environmental Group for Millie Bank and Raven Beck environmental and footpath improvements: The application was for £2,530. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £2,530 towards the scheme to improve access to footpaths and the countryside around Kirkoswald, including for wheelchair users.
Application for funding towards Newbiggin Village Hall for Newbiggin Digital Access Centre: The application was for £4,770 (amended from £7,811 previously stated). The Portfolio Holder decided to defer the application pending the installation of superfast wireless broadband at Newbiggin Village Hall.
Application for funding towards Eden Sports Council in partnership with Penrith Olympic Torch Steering Group for Olympic Torch Celebrations in Penrith: The application was for £2,500. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £2,500 towards the scheme to enable the community of Penrith and surrounding areas to properly mark the once in a lifetime occasion.
Application for funding towards Penrith Preschool Nursery for Outdoor Play/Educational Area: The application was for £10,000. The Portfolio Holder decided to refer the applicant to Cumbria County Council’s ‘0-19 Youth Fund’ which was considered a more appropriate source of funding for the scheme.
Application for funding towards Quondam Arts Trust for Dragonfly Eden learning disability theatre group: The application was for £2,300. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £2,300 towards the scheme to enable the Dragonfly performances which benefit adults with learning disabilities to continue.
Application for funding towards Shap Bowling Club for Phase 4 Improvements: Fitting out of toilets and connection to public sewer: The application was for £10,000. The Portfolio Holder decided to defer the application pending enquiries regarding previous awards which may have been made by the Council.
Application for funding towards St Andrew’s Church, Penrith for Parenting Project: The application was for £1,569. The Portfolio Holder decided to award £1,569 to enable the programme of support to parents to take place but this was conditional on establishing that the project had not yet taken place. Application for funding towards Young Enterprise for Young Enterprise Appleby Event: The application was for £1,530. The Portfolio Holder decided to refer the applicant to Cumbria County Council’s ‘0-19 Youth Fund’ which was considered a more appropriate source of funding for the scheme. |
