Communities Portfolio Agenda: 26 April 2012

A meeting is to be held with Officers at 3.30pm, on Thursday, 26 April 2012, in the Executive Office, Town Hall, Penrith to consider the following matters:

1. Declarations of Interest

To receive declarations of the existence and nature of any personal interests and/or personal interests which are prejudicial in any matter to be considered during the meeting.

2. Request from Appleby Town Council for a Grant from the John Percival Fawcett Bequest

To consider report CLS37/12 of the Director of Corporate and Legal Services (PDF: 197 Kb / 4 pages) which requests consideration of a request from Appleby Town Council for a grant from the John Percival Fawcett Bequest for:

  • A new window box, three hanging baskets and plants for 38 window boxes;
  • Repairing the car parks and wooden railings at the Jubilee Bridge Picnic area.
  • Replacement of a heavy duty picnic table including base on the King George V playing field in the vicinity of the play area.

RECOMMENDATION that:

  1. The request for funding under the John Percival Fawcett Bequest be approved for the new window box, the Spring and Summer planting of the 38 window boxes and the 3 hanging baskets. Approve a total payment of £531.20.
  2. The request for funding under the John Percival Fawcett Bequest be approved for the repairs to Jubilee car park and the wooden rails. Approve a total payment of £1,145.
  3. The request for funding under the John Percival Fawcett Bequest be approved for a replacement heavy duty picnic table including base to be placed on the King George V playing field. Approve a total quoted payment of £1,150.

3. Community Fund - Application Decisions

To consider report CD34/12 of the Communities Director (PDF: 1.4 Mb / 152 pages) which outlines the applications that have been received requesting financial support from Eden District Council’s Community Fund.

RECOMMENDATION that the Portfolio Holders makes a decision on each of the applications contained within the appendices to the report with reference to the assessment criteria.
