A virement of £6,500 is approved from the budget of the Performance Officer to cover the costs of a Business Support Assistant to undertake parking administrative duties for twelve months.

Reasons for Decision The current parking assistant post is vacant and it is only funded until the end of March 2011. There are a number of administrative duties that must be undertaken to ensure efficient and effective administration of both on-street and off-street parking. The Performance Officer post is currently vacant and will be until the Government’s approach is known.
Summary of Options Rejected:

The work could be done by other members of the section. However, this would have taken more highly paid officers away from their normal duties.
