Decision Reference Number Res_12_12_11
Subject Matter: PC Recycling Policy
Date Decision Made 19 December 2011
Portfolio: Resources
Decision made by: Councillor John Lynch
Interests Declared: None
Decision: After data cleansing, surplus PCs are disposed of as follows (in order of preference):
  1. where possible, reuse PCs locally to parishes, community, or voluntary groups. We should let councillors know that we will be making redundant kit available and they can tell us of any requirements they know of;
  2. if there is no demand amongst local organisations at any given time, we offer the PC on Freecycle;
  3. any unusable machine is handed to a third party for WEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) compliant recycling.
Relevant Overview and Scrutiny Committee: Scrutiny Co-ordinating Board
Reports and Background Papers Considered Report F100/11
Reasons for Decision Although PCs now last longer than they used to, they still eventually become too slow to be usable at work and we have to replace them.
