Decision:

The Portfolio Holder notes the contents of the report of the Director of Policy and Performance and recommends to Council on 29 September:

  1. in respect of Appleby TIC any further reduction in grant be deferred by one year to enable a partnership based business plan to be drawn up which would enable the TIC to be placed on a more sustainable level by securing funding from the wider public sector and potentially from income generation.
  2. in respect of Kirkby Stephen TIC, that EDC confirms its intention to cease direct provision of KS TIC from end of March 2012, pending a viable business plan coming forward from the Upper Eden community group. This is due to the fact that the group has been investigating ideas and proposals for the continuation of the service for some time, and a business plan should now come forward for implementation.
  3. in respect of Penrith TIC, a review takes place starting in May 2012 as previously agreed due to the unavailability of staff to support this review before that date.
  4. a nomination be sought from Scrutiny Members to consider the Kirkby Stephen Business Case when received.
