Interests Declared:
Decision:

The Portfolio Holder approves the refurbishment of village recycling centres at Armathwaite, Hackthorpe, Lazonby, Long Marton and Low Hesket, at a total estimated cost of £41,500, to be funded by the Waste Capital Infrastructure Grant.

Relevant Overview and Scrutiny Committee: Environment and Economy
Reports and Background Papers Considered Report TS31-11 of the Director of Technical Services
Reasons for Decision Many of the Council’s recycling centre compounds are now 10-15 years old and in need of repair. In the case of the five sites detailed in this report, tarmac hardstandings have broken up and fences have become warped and rotten, with some boards missing. Also, in the case of four of the five sites, the compounds are no longer large enough to accommodate all the required containers. If the five sites are to continue to benefit the villages in which they are located, they will need to be refurbished, extended and improved.
