Decision Reference Number Res_13_10_10
Subject Matter: Voluntary Redundancy Scheme for IT Shared Services
Date Decision Made 18 October 2010
Portfolio: Resources
Decision made by: Councillor Mary Robinson
Interests Declared: None
Decision: A voluntary redundancy scheme, within the Voluntary Redundancy Framework (agreed at the Executive, September 2010), is introduced to assist in moving to a shared IT service.
Relevant Overview and Scrutiny Committee: Performance
Reports and Background Papers Considered Report CLS 54/10
Reasons for Decision  The Voluntary Redundancy Framework was agreed at the Executive (September 2010) to assist in major ‘change events’ such as staff restructures and shared services.  The Framework sets out that a specific scheme should be introduced for each such ‘change event’. The Council’s Executive on 5 October agreed (subject to council) to implement a shared IT service with SLDC from 1 December 2010. The business case stated that, of the 2.36 FTE staff loss,1 FTE would need to made from an existing post. Introducing a VR scheme will allow this reduction to be achieved on a voluntary basis if a member of the EDC IT section requests that a voluntary redundancy application is considered.
Summary of Options Rejected: Not agreeing VR scheme.
