How to Register as an Elector

You can apply to be included on the Register of Electors between January and August using the Rolling Registration Scheme. All you have to do is fill in a voter registration form (Rolling Registration ER3 Form).

Please note, this service will not be available from September to November because of the Annual Canvass and you cannot be included on the register using this registration form during these months.

How do I get a Voter Registration Form?

To get a voter registration form simply telephone our Contact Centre on 01768 817817. Give them your details and they will send you one in the post. You cannot download a form as each form has its own unique property barcode so it can be scanned and processed quickly once it has been returned to us.

How do I fill in the form?

You have to sign your own form; someone else cannot do it for you. Please pay attention to the boxes regarding age and availability for Jury Service. Ticking relevant boxes if you do not want to appear on the sold Edited Electoral Register.

Who do I send the form to?

Return your form to: The Electoral Registration Officer, Eden District Council, Town Hall, Penrith, Cumbria CA11 7QF.

What happens once you have sent us your form?

When you send us your form we will add you to our list of new applications. Any elector can then object to your name being added to the register. If this happens we will write to you.

If your application is not objected to, we will change your details within 2 to 6 weeks of receiving your form. We will write to tell you when your application is allowed.

There are special rules about names being added to the voters list during an election period. Because of these you may not be able to vote at that election if you are added during this time.
