As a District Council, occupying the layer of local government between Cumbria County Council and Parish Councils, we are responsible for services including:

We operate Executive Arrangements in order to carry out our duties and functions as a Local Authority. This means that the Leader and Executive, appointed by full Council, make most of the day-to-day decisions within the service areas identified above. We employ Officers to carry out the decisions made by Councillors.

Portfolio Holders meet regularly with officers in order to make everyday decisions. The Executive as a whole meets every month to consider matters of significance contained in the Forward Plan of Key Decisions and to discuss policy development and recommendations of the Scrutiny Panels.
