Race Equality Scheme

Eden District Council is committed to eliminating discrimination and promoting equality in our policies and how we deliver services. The Race Equality Scheme, along with the Disability Equality Scheme and Gender Equality Scheme, are central to our approach to ensuring that accessible and inclusive services are delivered to all service users within the Eden District.

The Race Equality Scheme will evolve over time. This is the second race equality scheme produced by the Council. We will monitor progress with our partners and change the Scheme as we need to, to ensure on going success. We aim to adopt an approach to equality, which integrates our Race, Disability and Gender Schemes. We are committed to securing equality of treatment and access in all aspects of our services.

This Scheme sets out how we will meet the general and specific duties to promote race equality as required by the Race Relations Act 1976 and the Race Relations (Amendment) Act (2000).
