Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership

The Carlisle and Eden Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership works with its partners to tackle crime and disorder across each district. The Partnership consists of the Leadership Group, Five Task Groups and the Management Team.

Our vision statement is 'to contribute to a high quality of life for all, across both urban and rural communities. To create an environment where people can feel secure and live without the threat or fear of Crime and Disorder'

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998

Section 6-7

Obligates every local authority area to form a Partnership with a 3 year cycle to:

  • Identify, through audit of crime and consultation the level and pattern of crime & disorder in its area.
  • Formulate and deliver strategies to assist in tackling these key priorities and reduce crime and drug misuse at the local level

Section 17

"Without prejudice to any other obligation imposed upon it, it shall be the duty of each authority to which this section applies to exercise its various functions with due regard to the likely effect of the exercise of those functions on, and the need to do all that it reasonably can to prevent, crime and disorder in its area."
