Cumbria Tourism, in partnership with Local Authorities, have developed a 'Destination Management System' (DMS). The DMS is designed to provide comprehensive information for the visitor about all aspects of their holiday including:
- Accommodation
- Attractions
- Events
- Restaurants
- Activities
- Shopping
- Walking and cycling routes
- Towns, villages and beauty spots
The information is then available throughout the Information Centre network in Cumbria. It also drives various tourism websites throughout Cumbria. Since its launch in 2003, the DMS system has generated in the excess of £15millon worth of accommodation bookings.
How can it benefit my business?
The information is entered into a central database which is made available throughout the network. This system allows potential customers to see room details, prices and availability. Attractions can provide descriptions on facilities such as play areas and cafes. The DMS can be updated via phone, internet and fax. The updated information can be seen automatically by visitors to those websites you have chosen to advertise on and all TICs using the system. This system allow TICs to search and book accommodation for the visitor.

Will my information be seen by potential visitors/residents?
You need to make sure you are advertising with one of the organisations that work to promote Cumbria to visitors and residents. Most organisations will charge you to advertise on their website or in their guides. Eden offers a website and guide package for accommodation and attractions.
To register on the DMS please visit Cumbria Tourism and download the appropriate form. Once completed, return this form together with an image of your property or establishment to Cumbria Tourism.
