During 2010, Eden in the Lake District, Cumbria attracted 4.3 million visitors with a massive £217 million being spent by these visitors. During 2010 tourism accounted for 3,500 full-time equivalent jobs in Eden.
Eden Tourism acknowledges the importance of tourism to the economy of Eden and carries out a variety of activities to help sustain and attract more visitors to the area. These include:
- Marketing and promoting Eden as a holiday destination
- Producing marketing literature including the Eden Visitor Guide and Eden Attractions leaflet
- A website of tourism information that can be visited at www.visiteden.co.uk including an online booking option
- Eden's Tourism service also offers advice and support to new and expanding tourism businesses
- Work with local tourism businesses to encourage participation in Quality Assurance Schemes
- We have a close working relationship with members of the local tourism trade through the establishment of the Eden Tourism Network
- Works in partnership with a large number of organisations including Cumbria Tourism to provide additional promotional opportunities
- Operate 3 and part fund 2 Tourist Information Centres throughout Eden
- Work with local operators to promote business tourism through a Conference Venue Finding Service
- Small tourism marketing grants available
