Market Stallholder Information

Market stallholder information is to help current and potential stallholders attending our markets in Penrith and Appleby.

  • We welcome additional stallholders selling goods not already been sold at a market.
  • Traders are required to provide their own stall equipment and to have current public liability insurance.
  • Traders are required to complete a stallholder registration form see below for a copy. Details provided may be shared with other authorised bodies, such as the Inland Revenue, the Police, Trading Standards and Environmental Health.

Stallholders will only permitted to sell goods detailed in the registration form and agreed by the us.

  • New 'casual' traders will be allocated an available pitch by our representative.

  • Pitch fees are set by us on an annual basis. The preferred method of payment is by crossed cheque, payable to Eden District Council.

How much do a market pitches cost?

  • Market pitch fees for Penrith Tuesday market:
    £4.10 per metre (equivalent to £1.25 per linear foot) in Great Dockray and the Cornmarket.

  • Market pitch fees for Appleby Saturday market:
    £4.43 per metre (equivalent to £1.35 per linear foot) in Market Square.
