The inspiration for this concept came from the medieval seal of Penrith.
Implementation of the Pedestrian Movement Strategy
Following a range of consultation events in Penrith, the strategy provided for the installation of bespoke pedestrian 'wayfinders' and benches to encourage pedestrians to explore, appreciate and spend time in Penrith Town Centre.
'The Knack' were appointed in April 2012 to design manufacture and install the elements of street furniture. Installation at 14 locations in Penrith Town Centre was completed in October 2012.
Wayfinders designed to the same style and specification will be installed in New Squares by Sainsbury's in the coming months.
Further work on improving pedestrian movement around the town will continue and there will also be work to examine improving the gateway entrances to the town.
