Employment and training Initiatives in Eden

We are committed to attracting new jobs to the area through our Invest in Eden web site and to work in partnership with other agencies to:

  • promote the development of learning communities
  • signpost local people to lifelong learning and training opportunities
  • encourage employers to help residents benefit from employment opportunities created within the area

For the most part, employment and training opportunities are linked to local colleges and Cumbria University. It is the Councils policy to promote the learning opportunities at Newton Rigg as the College is located in Eden and most closely associated with the rural economy. Further details on opportunities from other colleges in Cumbria can be found on our Invest in Eden web site.

We are also keen to promote our apprenticeship scheme which offers up to £2,000 wage subsidy for the employer as an encouragement to take on additional staff.
