Business Grant Assistance

We provide a range of grant assistance to businesses in the District with other partner organisations, these are listed below:

Business Expansion Grant

  • Up to £2,350 or 25% of project costs available for businesses in Eden District Council's area
  • Must demonstrate financial viability with a detailed business plan
  • Discretionary
  • Administered through Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency

Marketing Support Grant

Tourism Grant

  • Small marketing grants for new events and tourism related marketing projects for the Eden District
  • Requires details of a project outline, budget and a feedback report from supported events/projects
  • Discretionary
  • Administered through Eden Tourism 01768 212165.

Employer Assistance

We offer employer assistance of up to £700 to help local businesses access student and graduate skills through the University of Cumbria's Business Support Services:

Graduate Recruitment and Retention Service

  • Helping Cumbrian businesses to source high level skills and address retention issues.
  • Graduate Recruitment Service (GRS) is administered through the University of Cumbria. The subsidy of £700 can be claimed after the first eight weeks of the new graduate’s employment.

Business Placement Programmes

  • Helping Cumbrian businesses to find reliable, skilled students for between 2 and 13 weeks to help complete business projects.
  • Business Placements Programme (BPP) is administered through the University of Cumbria. The subsidy will cover 50% of the allowance paid to the student/graduate up to a maximum of £700.

 Get Qualified

  • Subsidises training courses for employees or volunteers in sports organisations in Cumbria.

  • Get Qualified is administered through the University of Cumbria. The subsidy will increase the amount covered from 40% to 50% up to £700 per company per annum.

 Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP)

  • Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are funded by a government grant and administered through the University of Cumbria. The grant enables businesses to employ a high calibre graduate with help from the University to work on a project of between one and three years duration. The subsidy of £700 will help cover the initial set-up costs of a KTP.
