If an arrangement fails or is not offered the recovery team can consider sending a customers case to the bailiff. Before doing so the customer is sent a bailiff warning letter (PDF: 7Kb/ 1 page) explaining to them that the debt will be sent to the bailiff in 14 days.
It includes an option to make an arrangement. A schedule of costs will accompany the letter which sets out the costs involved with bailff action should the case be dealt with by the bailiffs.
Once the case has been passed to the bailiff the customer must deal directly with the bailiff, the Council will only intervene in exceptional circumstance.
