Downloading and saving attachments
A lot of information available on this site is available in downloadable formats such as PDF and Microsoft Word files. These normally have a PDF or Word icon after or before the link. When you click on the link one of two things may happen depending on the set-up of your computer: you may be asked if you want to save or open the file or it may just open automatically. If you are prompted and just want to view it choose 'open'. If you want to view it at a later time or maybe print it off you should choose save and follow your computer's instructions. If it opens automatically and you want to save it there is normally a facility in the toolbar of the program used to open it such as Word or PDF)
The following list gives links to software you'll need to view certain types of files:
Security
Whilst we make every endeavour to ensure files available on this website are virus-free we strongly advise you scan all files downloaded from the Internet with an up-to-date anti-virus scanner.
Saving individual pages
To save a page as opposed to a downloadable file use your browser's function. Normally this is under File > Save As... This will save the page as an html document that you can then view in your browser at a later time. Depending on which option you select you may lose styles and images.
Printing
To print pages from this site use the print facility in your browser (normally under File > Print). Any pages printed from this site will not have the menu on them but they should have the URL of the page so you can find it again if you need to.
As part of our Green IT commitment we ask that you save pages rather than printing and only print if you need to.
